Description: This training covers key components of effective rights-based approaches to delivering housing, presented in an engaging, plain language format that includes interactive activities including breakout rooms and Q & As. Activities will draw on real experiences of housing workers and give attendees the opportunity to practice new skills gained.
Each module is 3.5 hours:
- Module 1 – The right to housing in Canada and human rights in housing: understanding the Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- Module 2 – Understanding the Residential Tenancies Act and the Landlord and Tenant Board.
- Module 3 – Eviction prevention: working with and supporting residents with complex needs, and best practices for housing workers.
