About our services work
The Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) provides free, individualized services to renters in Ontario who are facing challenges in their housing.
We offer the following two service programs.
Tenant service program:
Housing Stabilization
Our caseworkers work to empower renters by:
- Providing legal information and resources – including self-advocacy guides – to help them address discrimination in their home.
- Negotiating on their behalf with property owners and managers in situations of housing discrimination to help them obtain, keep and enjoy their housing.
Tenant service program:
Legal Services
Our lawyers provide legal advice and/or representation for renters in Toronto who need support with:
- No-fault evictions
- Above-guideline rent increases
- Housing maintenance applications
- Multi-tenant housing (rooming houses)
