We offer 1-hour trainings on the following topics:
- Know Your Rights: Rental Housing Basics
This training covers the most important things you need to know when renting in Ontario. It’s a great starting point for anyone looking to better understand tenant’s rights. Using real-world examples, we help participants recognize common challenges tenants face and share practical information on where to find help and support. Topics include rent increases, maintenance issues, guests, privacy, and other important concerns. - Know Your Rights: Eviction Prevention
Understanding the eviction process in Ontario is a key part of protecting tenants’ rights and preserving affordable housing. In this training, we walk through practical examples to show how the eviction process works and what challenges tenants may face. We focus on paperwork, timelines, voiding evictions, illegal lockouts, and where to go for help. This training helps participants build the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to eviction. - Know Your Rights: Human Rights in Housing
Everyone deserves housing that is free from discrimination. Our Human Rights in Housing training helps participants understand protections under the Ontario Human Rights Code and what to do if those rights are not upheld. Through everyday examples, we look at how discrimination can happen, when it often occurs, and how landlords are expected to respond. The session also covers disability accommodations, the right to live safely and comfortably in your home, and where to go for help with human rights concerns in housing. - Know Your Rights: Repairs and Maintenance
Safe and well-maintained homes are important for comfort and dignity, yet repair and maintenance issues are a common challenge in rental housing. This training helps participants understand how to address common repair and maintenance issues and where to go for help. Using scenario-based examples, we cover rights and responsibilities related to pest infestations, broken appliances, mould, vital services, and more. Participants also learn effective ways to communicate repair needs and what steps can be taken if those needs aren’t being addressed. - Customized Training
